September and October are both great months to visit Mallorca. The weather is warm but not too hot, and you can still swim in the water before it’s too cold. From late October through November, Mallorca is cool and humid. You can plan to wear shorts, jeans, and short-sleeve tees at the beginning of fall. You’ll need layers like a denim jacket and raincoat for the end of the season. Sandals and sneakers will be your go-to daytime shoes, and you can bring boots or nice closed-toe shoes for the cooler evenings.
Mallorca temperatures range from an average of 72℉ in September to 58℉ by the end of the fall season (18℃ and 6℃).
Prepare for rain and cold weather during Mallorca’s winter months. You don’t need a full-length jacket with a fur hood, but a puffer jacket, sweatshirt, and thick scarf will help keep you warm. Excursions in the mountains: If you’re driving through the mountains and don’t plan on getting too active, you can wear tennis shoes and athletic bottoms. If it’s late fall to early spring, bring a hoodie in case it gets cold. For expert hikers, there are intense trails in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains where you’ll need hiking boots and pants.
Beach and pool days: Women can wear a swimsuit and a fashionable cover-up for a day by the water. Men can also keep it simple with swim trunks and a V-neck shirt. The sun in Mallorca is intense, so a wide-brim hat and sunglasses will keep you covered.

Mallorca International Airport (PMI) is the island's major airport. Mallorca is well-connected to most European cities and is one of Spain’s busiest airports. You can also arrange a shuttle bus ride or private car to take you to other areas of the island directly from the airport.
The best place to shop for clothes, footwear, and accessories is the capital, Palma. You’ll find some of the best shopping on Passeig des Borne, an elegant boulevard in Palma’s historic center with European department stores and popular international brands. Another hub for shopping in Palma is along Carrer Sant Miguel. There is a mix of local and chain stores sprinkled along the pedestrian-only streets.
The best nightlife in Mallorca is on Paseo Maritimo and in the Santa Catalina neighborhood. Paseo Maritimo is a street running along the waterfront, lined with bars and dance clubs. These places don’t close until as late as 6 am! The Santa Catalina neighborhood is a trendy area with cocktail bars along the main street called Carrer Sant Magi. As the night goes on, you’ll notice more bars with dance floors begin to open up.
Mallorca is a great place to try traditional Spanish food like croquetas and tortillas. Mallorca also has its own cuisine passed down through generations of local families. Mallorcan dishes are hearty and flavorful. For breakfast, try the pastry called an ensaimada with chocolate for dipping. A sobrasada sandwich is a typical mid-day snack, and for dinner try the dishes Frito Mallorquin and Tombet.
There is so much to do in Mallorca! If you’re traveling far, I recommend staying at least a week. A week gives you enough time to explore Palma and make day trips to different parts of the island during your visit.
